Apple Increases Their Dividend by 5% in 2022

On April 28th, Apple announced a dividend increase of 5%. This will increase their dividend per quarter from $0.22 to $0.23. It is payable on May 12th for shareholders of record on May 9th. The new quarterly dividend represents an annualized dividend amount of $0.92 per share as compared to the current annualized dividend amount of $0.88 per share.

Dividend Increase Effect
I am currently holding 8.429 shares of Apple in the More Dividends portfolio. With this 5% increase it will add an additional $0.34 to my projected annual dividend income and this doesn’t even take into account the compounding factor!
Current Stock Position
Isn’t Apple an amazing company? While I do love the company, sadly it is one of my smallest positions. At the time that I started this position, I was still very new to investing. If I am recalling correctly, I bought the stock on the Loyal3 platform. If you are unfamiliar with the platform you can always search for the article that I wrote about it many years ago. Sadly I was only to get a couple of hundred bucks in there before the thing just took off and hasn;t seemed to slow down much since then.
Even though it is not a big position for me, it has still been very rewarding for me. I have just been allowing the dividend to compound on it’s self and can see no reason not to in the foreseeable future.
I have spent some time thinking about what I would like to do with this position because I do not believe that the share price will ever get back down to my cost basis. Despite pondering on the solution, as of yet I have not decided how I want to handle it. So until then, I will just leave this position along and let the dividend grow!
Regardless of how large or small, I love all dividend increases. That is how we end up with More Dividends 😉
