Apple has a 4.3% Dividend Increase in 2023

On May 4th, Apple announced a dividend increase of 4.3%. This will increase their dividend from $0.23 to $0.24. It is payable on May 18th for shareholders of record on May 15th. The new dividend represents an annualized dividend amount of $0.96 per share as compared to the previous annualized dividend amount of $0.92 per share.

Dividend Increase Effect

I am currently holding 8.491 shares of Apple stock in the More Dividends portfolio. With this 4.3% increase it will add an additional $0.24 to my projected annual dividend income and this doesn’t even take into account the compounding factor! That brings the new grand total up to $2,583.26.

Current Stock Position

I’ve been holding this stock position in Apple for a number of years now. Without a doubt one of my biggest regrets is not strengthening the position years ago. Like some of my other positions, Apple was a stock that I bought and then the share price just continued to go up.

I kept thinking that the share price would eventually come back down closer to my cost basis but unfortunately the share price just continued to go up.

So after holding the stock for several years, Apple decided to split the stock. So now, I own more shares but unfortunately it did not add to the position. Which also means that did not make vast improvements to my projected annual dividend income.

This is definitely a situation where I wish I would have followed someone like Warren Buffett and just started adding to the position and kept adding. If I had done that it would have definitely paid me more dividends.

So for now I will continue to hold the position and let it slowly compound over time with each dividend that is reinvested. I will try to remain a patient investor and wait for the share price to come back down but it doesn’t appear like that will happen anytime soon.

Regardless of how large or small, I love all dividend increases. That is how we end up with More Dividends 😉
