Southern Company Increases Their Dividend by 3.1% in 2021

On April 19th, Southern Company announced a dividend increase of 3.1%. This will increase their dividend per quarter from $0.64 to $0.66. It is payable on June 7th for shareholders of record on May 17th. The new quarterly dividend represents an annualized dividend amount of $2.64 per share as compared to the current annualized dividend amount of $2.56 per share.

Dividend Increase Effect On More Dividends
I am currently holding 26.379 shares of Southern Company. With this 3.1% increase, it will add $2.11 to my Projected Annual Dividend Income and thats not taking into account the compounding factor!
Conclusion
Southern Company has had a place in this portfolio for many years now. I have no intentions of ever selling the position. I would love to build upon it over time.
This is my only utility company that I own. So while I do not have alot of my portfolio allocated to utilities, I would love to grow this allocation over time.
Regardless of how large or small, I love all dividend increases. That is how we end up with More Dividends 😉
