More Dividends Portfolio Update – April 2016

April has come to end, so I decided to give an update on how my portfolio has been doing, as well as how the future looks for it. The month was very interesting for the portfolio since there was all kinds of activity. There were additions, increases and dividends received…. enough of my rambling, let me just get right into it.

There have been a couple of additions to the portfolio that were not discussed in a previous article, but the changes were made on the Portfolio page, so I thought that I would mention them here even though one of the purchases happened in April and the other one happened in March. In the future I will try to stay more current with whats going on in the More Dividends Portfolio.

Additions:

The Wells Fargo was a new position that I opened up while the Bank of America was a position that I was lowering my cost basis in.

Wells Fargo & Co (WFC) – 10 shares at $48.87
Bank of America Corp (BAC) – 37 shares at $13.45

Dividends Received:

During the month I received a couple of different dividends. The ones that are held in my Tradeking account were reinvested while the one held in my Loyal 3 account was just paid to my brokerage account there.

Coca-Cola Co (KO) – $0.62
Manhattan Bridge Capital Inc (LOAN) – $0.38 that was reinvested for .089 more shares
Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT) – $5.00 that was reinvested for .072 more shares

Dividend Increases:

The great thing about being a dividend investor is when you get raises in dividends. That means the company wants to pay me more money just because I am a shareholder of the company. Although some of these raises were smaller than others, I do think that they are all moderately good raises with more potential to grow more in the future.

Southern Company (SO) – $0.5425 to $0.56 (3.2%)
Wells Fargo (WFC) – $0.375 to $0.38 (1.3%)
Exxon Mobil (XOM) – $0.73 to $0.75 (2.7%)

Despite the fluctuations in the market, I am very pleased thus far with the performance of the More Dividends Portfolio. I know that I have just a couple of flakes right now….. but all it takes is a couple of flakes to build a snowball! Enjoy the ride while I build this snowball and I look forward to hearing any comments!
