More Dividends Update from October 2016

More Dividends

Time sure has been flying by here it is the 6th of the month and I am just now sitting down to write my monthly update. That may be in part because the 1st month of the quarter is not my strongest one but the truth is that I have been super busy with a change in my job that has resulted in me having very little spare time. The Twitter following @MoreDividends has been growing organicly lately which is great. I have updated the Dividend Income and Portfolio pages so that they are all current. I have several interesting articles in the works that I am very excited to share with you all very soon. Despite this not being one of my strongest months, let’s go ahead and look at how the month went.

Additions

During October, I started building a new position in 1 new company that pays me a monthly dividend.

Stag Industrial, Inc. (STAG) – 4 shares with a cost basis of $89.36 ($0.69 in dividend income for 2016)

This will add $.69 to Dividend Income for the year.
This addition doesn’t look like much for this year but as REITs get cheaper I will continue to build this position and it will continue to pay me a monthly dividend into the future.

Dividends Received

As mentioned above the 1st month of the quarter is not my strongest month. I have tried to stay disciplined in buying great companies regardless of when their dividend is paid out. You can check out my article When Do I want My Dividends Paid to read about why I don’t care when my dividends are paid.

Coca Cola (KO) – $2.61

Manhattan Bridge Capital, Inc. (LOAN) – $0.46 – Reinvested

October was the first month of Q4 and accounted for $3.07 of my 2016 Dividend Income.

So far my dividends received looks like this

Dividends Received By Year

My YoY growth during the month of October came in at 36.4%. It clearly was not as large as last month but as long as I am continuing to see YoY growth than I will be happy with the performance of my portfolio.

Dividend Increases

Despite only being paid dividends by 2 companies, one of them came with an increase in the dividend. These dividend increases every month just remind me that my strategy is working. I just have to stay the course to see the full effects of the compounding ability.

Manhattan Bridge Capital, Inc. (LOAN) – $0.09 to $0.10 – 11.1% Increase

Portfolio Allocation

This month’s update of my portfolio allocation is slightly off because it includes my portfolio as it stands today which already includes an addition to my portfolio that I have made during the month of November. Look for the article about the purchase to be coming soon 🙂

Current Portfolio

As mentioned above, this image shows a recent purchase that hasn’t been discussed yet on the blog but an article will be released about it soon. I am happy with where my portfolio is right now and hope the recent volatility in the market continues so that I can continue to add to my portfolio.

Conclusion

It was not a month to brag on very much but it did show some growth. Every month is not going to perform as well as others but as long as I am seeing the growth happen that is what I am looking for. I have been seeing a lot of volatility happen lately so I am hoping that I will be able to add a lot more to my portfolio during this time.
